How does it work?
At Harley and Hounds, we offer a diverse range of specialised services crafted to meet the unique needs of every dog and owner. Our approach centres on understanding your individual challenges and goals, allowing us to deliver effective, practical solutions that genuinely make a difference. Whether you’re navigating early training, building real‑world skills, or addressing more complex behaviours, we’re here to support you with personalised guidance rooted in positive, confidence‑building methods.
Starting with a free meet‑and‑greet for walks/sits or a no commitment consult fee for training, we then take the time needed to fully understand the needs of both you and your dog. Together, we’ll create a tailored training plan designed to strengthen your bond, build engagement, and set your dog up for long‑term success. Every step focuses on practical progress that supports good dog behaviour in everyday life by building calm habits, clear communication, and confident choices in real‑world situations. It’s all about helping your dog understand what’s expected of them, and what is expected of you as an owner to aid these choices.
If you decide to move forward with walks, pet sitting, or training, we’ll begin a simple enrolment process to get everything set up. Once that’s completed, we will get your pet’s service started and we can begin working toward your goals.
Puppy Training and Socialisation
Puppy training and dog socialisation builds confidence, supports healthy growth, and gently introduces your dog to the wider world. Through positive exposure, essential real‑world understanding, and guided experiences, we help shape calmer behaviours and a well‑rounded dog who feels secure wherever life takes them.
Puppy training covers all the essential foundations during their critical learning stages, but it also goes deeper — reinforcing appropriate play with other dogs, engaging all their senses through varied environments and textures, learning to understand your puppy’s communication, and setting them up for a future of good health and emotional stability by building confidence, calmness and positive associations with the world around them.
Dog socialisation means gradually exposing a dog to a wide range of real‑world environments - from dog parks and quiet green spaces to street walks, visits to towns and busy public areas, veterinary clinics or dog friendly shops, and even indoor pub‑style environments - so they learn to stay calm, confident and responsive around different people, dogs, sounds, surfaces and levels of activity.
Obedience Training
Develop a well‑behaved companion with our obedience training, covering everything from basic commands to advanced control. Each session builds clarity, confidence, and responsiveness, helping your dog become a joyful, reliable partner at home and out in the world.
Obedience training builds reliable behaviour by teaching on‑ and off‑leash control, heel work with smooth halts, turns and pace changes, and solid sit, down and stand positions that the dog can hold in sight, out of sight or at distance; it also develops steady attention and teaches the dog to manage overexcitement so they stay calm, focused and responsive in any environment.
Reactivity and Behavioural Training
Reactivity and behavioural training focuses on understanding what your dog is feeling, why they’re responding the way they do, and how to guide them toward calmer, safer choices. We explore reactivity in depth, teaching you how to read body language, recognise early signs of discomfort, and apply effective handling techniques that reduce stress in real‑world situations. From there, we move into ethical behaviour modification - a positive, structured process that helps your dog learn new coping strategies and gradually remove reactive responses with confident, appropriate behaviour.
Dog walking & pet sitting
Beyond training, we offer reliable dog walking and pet sitting services, giving you complete peace of mind knowing your beloved pet is in caring, experienced hands. With a focus on safety, comfort, and routine, we make sure your dog feels relaxed, supported, and happily engaged while you’re away.
We offer Monday through to Friday of daily group or paired dog walking and 24hr pet care 7 days a week.
